The Rooftop History Project is an ongoing project, begun in 2011, to tell the story of Rooftop Alternative K-8 School, located in the hills of Twin Peaks of San Francisco.

The Rooftop Alternative K-8 School’s history timeline includes:

Photos and journals from the original Twin Peaks School from the 1900‘s

The philosophy and mission behind the founding of Rooftop Alternative K-8 School by a team of seven teachers in 1970’s

The origins of the Rooftop Art Program with Aiko Cuneo in the 1980’s

The establishment of Rooftop’s aesthetic education program, begun with the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts Lincoln Center Institute program in 2001, which evolved to become Rooftop School’s “Art Is…” program begun in 2006.

The commitment to excellence in arts education continues, as Rooftop works to implement site programming aligned with the goals of the SFUSD’s Arts Education Master Plan adopted in 2006.
